Almost 30,000 people across the UK

Almost 30,000 people across the UK still tune into their favourite programmes on black and white TV sets.
The figures were released by TV Licensing to mark the 40th anniversary of the first colour transmissions on BBC1 and ITV.

Awhile ago, Western Digital tackled the home entertainment arena with the WD TV, which turned out to be a success. Nonetheless, a lot of enthusiasts, including me, were turned off by the fact that the WD TV lacks support for networking and doesn't include the capability to decode DTS audio, which is popularly used in compressed high-def video formats.

BBC I Player

The BBC's iPlayer is to start offering high definition (HD) streams and downloads of some programmes. It will mean improved picture quality on streams to web browsers. For many users, it will be their first chance to view HD television, with Doctor Who, Kerwhizz, and Dragons' Den all slated for HD release.
